Our area gets no rain at all from about May to October. Then it pours in the winter, and we celebrate the mud with hikes and the mushrooms with festivals. Next weekend I am excited to attend the 37th annual Santa Cruz Fungus Fair and take Mushrooms 101 to learn which little guys I can hunt around here.
