3rd Anniversary

Three years married to my man, as of today.  I am a happy girl woman.  I am much more grown up, emotionally, than I was at 24 and much of the credit for that goes to Luke.

It's been a very (re)productive 3 years.

I read a passage about how much family and friends put into a marriage -- building up the wife and husband, praying for the marriage, rooting for it with everything they have -- and I want to say thanks to all of you.  You know who you are.  You who made Luke and kept him safe and raised him into a man for me.  You who showed me what it means to live out marriage vows.  You who pick up the phone when I'm stressed out and over the edge and talk to me so I am stronger for him (and the boys).  You who hung out with me/him/us in high school, college, fellowship year, grad school, and taught us how to party and gave us good stories to tell each other so that our first few dates went well.  Thank you.

Firefox tip: App Tabs

Via Luke: Say cool cats and kittens, do you always open the same few 'sites when start your web browser?  And keep them open?  Gmail, for instance, or Pandora?  Then this groovy new feature is for you!  When you open the site, right click the tab and select "Pin as App Tab".  Whenever you start FF4, this tab will automatically open and remain open as a thin tab on the left (so it doesn't take up too much space).

Yosemite, My-semity*

Last weekend we went to Yosemite and met up with Grandpa and Ben.  It was perfect and I cannot wait to tell you all about it, but first I have some mushroom pizza to enjoy with my little Wagner boys.

*Scott was pretty sure that "Yosemite" meant "Your Semity", and kept asking about "My semety?  Our semety?"

Japan's Fukushima-Daiichi Reactor

I am nearly isolated from the media right now (yesterday, my mom had to call us when there was a Tsumani warning because she correctly knew we wouldn't hear), but I've still heard a lot of fear based reporting on Japan's nuclear power plants.  Some of it is irresponsible, some of it is just the nature of reporting.  There has to be a STORY.  (For instance, Mozilla has been getting a lot of press about the upcoming Firefox 4 release.  Even though they are a confirmed non-profit and their CEO repeats that firmly in every interview, there's a lot of buzz about the company going public.  Which they're not.  No IPO.  None.  If there is, we'll buy us a California house and you can all come live here.  But that's not happening.)

And my summary: There has been damage to the nuclear power plant, including an explosion this morning that happened outside the primary fuel containment structure and didn't damage the actual reactor.  At this point the damage has all been economic and no people or environment has been harmed.

The tale of Scott and a snail

I do a stroller run with friends every Tuesday morning.  Scott does GREAT with Mark: holding his hand (usually not too tightly) and talking to him or "reading" him books.  We run along Steven's Creek Trail under 2 highways and over one (on a huge pedestrian bridge where I taught Scott to yell "Go Mommy!") and to the NASA Research property.  Here we let the children out for a break.  Scott has been finding snails and last week the snails were all locked in their shells!  We think this is because of the unusual freezes out here; they sealed themselves in for protection.
