Yesterday the midwife, hearing how quickly my/Scott's labor went, complimented me on my birthing hips, which was the first time it actually sounded like a compliment. Thank you, midwife!
The first time I was told I had birthing hips, I was 14 and one of the cool triplet boys in my grade was doing the talking. I've been kind of embarrassed about them ever since. But now? It's really sinking in that they are a gift. All you lovely narrow-hipped ladies out there, enjoy fitting into the skinny jeans. As for me, I will enjoy the 4-hour labors. And salsa dancing! And occasionally being told I remind someone of Shakira, which I thing Agnes was just saying to flatter me.
Shakira - Estoy Aqui

(Shakira must have a very good mother to let her play in the mud like that.)

lol When I was 16 and went to camp, Estoy Aqui was the theme song of those 2 weeks. I love that song! Though now that I am watching 'Whenever, Wherever", I can't decide which part I like best: when she's dancing amid the stampeding horses or on top of the mountain. Tough choice. When I come visit in a few months, I need to see your salsa dancing skills.
And don't forget, her "hips don't lie"! That video has some crazy hip moves. She totally does remind me of you in the background photo on her website, and also just because she is so awesome. You have so many wide-ranging talents and interests, just like she does.
The message that I get from the second video is that it is always a good idea to show of your birthing hips, no matter where you are. I also like her jumping around wavy arms dance.
OH! We had a midwife with Colin - LOVE her!
4 hour labors are SO much better than skinny jeans! :)
