Remember this rockin' song by They Might Be Giants that Karen recommended and I taught my middle school science class to sing?
Well, ya know, the sun's not gas. It's plasma. So TMBG wrote another song, which appears on their new album called Here Comes Science. Aw, nerdy rockers! They're great!
But isn't miasma kind of a weird word to use? Isn't it kind of ... off? Word friends, what do you think? (Bridget, love, I'm looking in your direction. I'll go with whatever you rule on this one.)
(And now I'll probably be singing Miasma for the rest of the day. I hope you will be, too.)

Miasma: poisonous or toxic atmosphere
that's the most fitting definition I found... and I agree, odd.
This is fantastic, overall, though!! I love nerdy musicians, too! I must say the first version is much more catchy!
First of all, I love the pure nerdiness of this post. And not because I would've ever been a groupie of the science rockers, but just because it's awesome!! Second, the original is way better and I think using miasma was a stretch for the 2nd song. Stella was rockin' out to the first one and I was doin' a little head-bop too :)
I'm going to have to agree that based on the dictionary, it doesn't really seem to make sense... but then I am always a sucker for a really good rhyme. That miasma/plasma pairing took some real will-power to bring into being, and I respect that kind of work ethic. So I think the final vote comes down to the fact that the first song is way more bouncy and catchy. I'm thinking you should just teach the kiddos that first one and then slightly correct them afterwards.
